How to Avoid Tooth Decay in Children

Tooth decay in children can be serious, and lead to lifelong problems with dental hygiene. Baby bottle tooth decay is a condition that occurs in infants and toddlers who still use a bottle. It is possible to reverse tooth decay, but it is much easier just to prevent this condition in the first place. Tooth decay in children can be prevented by good oral hygiene and regular visits to a dentist. Changes in the diet you offer your child may also be necessary. Sugar is the enemy when it comes to good dental health, and this can be in the form of candy, soda, even fruits and juices when given at the wrong times. This does not mean you can not allow your children to have these foods, but limit them to the recommended amount.

Tooth Decay In Children

When high sugar foods are consumed, make your child brush their teeth and use a mouthwash to eliminate the sugar present in their mouth. This will help prevent tooth decay in children. Baby bottle tooth decay can be prevented by only giving your baby water in their bottle when they lay down to go to sleep. Teach your child to use a cup as soon as possible. Have your children brush their teeth after each meal, and after sugary snacks and drinks. If you need to reverse tooth decay, a dentist can use fillings to eliminate cavities. Without good dental hygiene habits though, your child may need frequent dental trips because of tooth decay in children.

    I can't stop my kid eating candy. No matter how hard I try to keep him away, he eats in in bucket loads. His teeth are in OK condition for now but the dentist had to do a LOT of cleaning last time round. Any tips for a suffering parent?
