  • The best ways to mirror the saying “you are what you eat” reguarding your lifestyle is to put yourself on a healthy diet.

Have you ever heard the saying, “You are what you eat?” This simple sentence brings quite a straightforward message. If you think that this slogan was made up by Gillian McKeith for her show of the same name “You Are What You Eat”, then you should know that it has been famous long before this TV-Show ever aired. In fact, there are several interesting sayings circulating in different cultures and countries such as “Tell me what you eat and I will tell you who you are”, “People die because of bad food rather than aging”, and “We eat in order to live, but we don’t live in order to eat”.

Food is not only a source of energy for our bodies but also has a direct and strong influence on our health. For many people, it is not enough for us just to be alive. Most people want to have comfortable lives as well. Some people want to just eat something just for the pleasure of eating. Others want to eat food that makes and keeps our bodies and lifestyle healthy. Food is also meant to be medicinal and can have healing properties. Did you know that some of the medicines prescribed by doctors may have side-effects? To be accurate, more than 25% of the visits to the doctorsare due to the side-effects caused by prescription medicines. An interesting figure derived from statistics is that 60% of physician prescribed medicines are most likely useless and possibly harmful. So it is better to eat the proper foods regularly rather than to rely on artificial medicines taken after eating nutritionally poor foods, to keep your health at an optimal level.

When it comes to food the optimal choice is always a nutrionally balanced diet . This means that the amount of food you consume should be equal to the amount of the energy you will spend. In other words do not eat foods that you are not willing to exercise off. Paying attention to how you chew your food will actually help in better digestion. Many dietians state that most balanced diets should have the proper ratio of proteins, lipids and carbohydrates. The optimal proportion would be 1:1:4. Your daily diet should contain all kinds of food with the intent to limit the intake of high sugar foods like desserts. You should also bear in mind the importance of your water intake regimen. The recommended daily consumption of water should run up to 2 liters a day. If your body is experiencing lack of water, then the result can be dehydration which can occur in different severities. If dehydration sets in, your state of health can worsen, your body’s efficiency to work propertly will decrease and your pulse and breath can become more rapid. If this occurs, you should seek medical help right away.

The best ways to mirror the saying “you are what you eat” reguarding your lifestyle is to put yourself on a healthy diet. There are many different diets out there. Some diets offer you a menu in accordance with the blood type you are, some are targeted to boost metabolism, and some are planned to increase or decrease weignt. Many of these diets also regulate the time and intervals between meals which can improve health overall. It is well known that one of the most popular reasons why people go on a diet is to lose weight. However, many diets can improve health levels including blood sugar problems, circulation problems, and others that are not soley based on weight indications.

Before you go on a diet you should try to determine what goals you are setting and what the measures you are willing to take and give up by going on a diet. Dedicate some time to research many diet types and you will have a better understanding of what diets are out there to help you obtain the results you want and need. Finally, you can go to a nutritionist or your professional healthcare physician and together figure out the best solution for your situation. A healthy diet will help you to be able to say, “I am what I eat.”
