What does a new anti-aging cream, aborted fetal material and outraged consumer groups have in common – part 2

Neocutis responded to the controversy about its PSP line on its website, saying that they obtained the fetus from an abortion that was medically necessary. The fetus was passed to its lab in Switzerland, and they kept to all the standard ethical guidelines. In addition, Neocutis says that it is important to note that none of their anti-aging creams contain actual cells or tissue from a fetus. The creams contain human growth factor proteins, and these proteins need to be extracted from those cells.
Some groups are concerned that the company will need to take more fetal material if it is going to continue creating the line, Neocutis claims that no additional source of tissue will be needed. The group Children of God for Life has trouble believing that it is not necessary for the company to get more skin samples in the future.
The question arises why with all the potential controversy, a company would choose to use aborted fetal material. Many doctors agree that Human Growth Factors are very effective kinds of growth factors, and for this fetal tissue is required. This protein is precisely what makes the anti-aging creams and gels Neocutis produces extremely effective. The controversy is sure to continue for some time yet.

What does a new anti-aging cream, aborted fetal material and outraged consumer groups have in common?

The cosmetic industry makes billions of dollars a year from an enormous range of anti-aging creams, all of which promise to turn back time. Some creams claim that one of the anti-aging secrets is found in the proteins that all of us have. These ‘magic’ proteins are called Human Growth Factors, and they encourage cells to grow better and repair themselves. When we get older, our bodies don’t produce the same amount of growth factors, and the ones that are produced are not nearly as powerful. What effect does this have on skin? Experts say that it can result in reduced elastin and collagen, as well as in more wrinkling and sagging.

Natural Sunscreens: is it time to make the switch?

A recently study conducted by the University of California found that the way in which sunscreens absorb UV rays may lead to the release of harmful substances, which may in turn result in premature aging and skin cancer. Most traditional chemical sunscreens do not block out all UV rays. Sunscreens that are sold in the U.S. block out mostly UVB rays, which are the ones that cause sunburn, but they do not protect against the dangerous UVA rays, which are the ones that lead to skin cancer. So, chemical sunscreens prevent sunburn on your skin, but do not protect you from the deeper harmful effects of UVA penetration.

Use Natural Acne Remedies Wisely… or Get Skin Damage

While cleansers and facewashes are still prevalent in treating pimples, natural acne remedies have become more popular in recent years. This is mostly because it is very convenient and economical to do so, since the ingredients necessary can easily be found in one’s kitchen. Some examples of these acne treatments include rubbing affected areas with cucumber, lemon, or garlic, and even making a porridge mask. The most common amongst natural acne home remedies is actually toothpaste, because apparently it helps dry the grease in the skin, which is the primary cause of acne. Some less common examples of acne remedies include the usage of floral water, tomato pulp, raw papaya, and even soda pilgrim for exfoliation purposes. Mixing turmeric powder and mint juice is also one of the methods used as an acne treatment, as well as a mixing nutmeg with unboiled milk. And to avoid blackheads we are advised to mix groundnut oil with fresh lime juice and apply it the entire face.

Acne Vulgaris Treatment and Symptoms

Acne Vulgaris, commonly just called acne, is a condition of your skin where your pores become clogged up from natural body oils and dead skin cells. This condition ranges from very mild to very severe, and is responsible for most cases of teenage acne. This is because during the teenage years hormones increase, and so does the production of sweat and body oils. Treatment for adult acne may require a different acne remedy than teenage acne, because older skin is not as resilient and may react to harsher drying chemicals and treatments. Acne Vulgaris can cause you to develop pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, or a combination of these symptoms, and they can occur anywhere. The most common breakout spots are the face, chest, back, neck, and shoulders.

Best Treatment for Adult Acne

Treatment for adult acne is available in many forms, but which acne remedy is best? This condition is different from teenage acne in many respects, and may require a different type of treatment plan to successfully get rid of blemishes and skin problems. Treatment for adult acne starts with the same steps as the acne remedy for teenage acne, and that is clean skin. Using a gentle soap or cleanser, clean your skin once in the morning and again at night. You can also perform this step whenever your face feels dirty or oily. Do not scrub though, because this can cause even worse skin problems. Using a cream with benzoyl peroxide can reduce irritation and prevent new breakouts, but if your condition is severe or includes cysts you may need to see a dermatologist to determine the best treatment for your specific acne type and cause.
