1) Vomiting
When vomiting hits, it isn’t fun. It keeps you home from work, school and completely halts your life. Gastric flu involves moderate to severe vomiting and is most common with the stomach virus. This symptom can be easily mistaken for other conditions like pregnancy or food poisoning if vomiting occurs while accompanying a fever, chills or headache, the likelihood of stomach flu is high.

2) Diarrhea
The most common symptom of a stomach bug is diarrhea, and even more so, watery diarrhea. When diarrhea occurs with an upset stomach or nausea for more than three days, medical advice should be sought.

3) Headache
A persistent headache is common with a stomach virus like the gastric flu. Typically, a dull to pounding sinus headache or pain above the eye region lasting more than three days occurs with the stomach or gastric flu.

4) Fever
A fever of over 101 degrees in adults and between 103 and 105 degrees in children can occur with the flu. If the person experiences a high fever in combination with vomiting and diarrhea, the risk of dehydration is high and immediate medical attention is necessary.

5) Chills and sweats
Chills and sweats occur when someone is experiencing flu-like symptoms. Most of the time, these symptoms are in connection with a high fever. Taking a cool shower or bath can help eliminate these annoying symptoms.
