Another Mysterious Part of Our Brain may have been Discovered

Researchers at Princeton University have discovered an area of the brain where we filter through all of the outside information and stimuli and give us the ability to focus on the highest priority items. These priorities depend on activities and environment, but relate to survival, and the tasks at hand.

Mysterious Part of Our Brain

The mysterious area, called the pulvinar, was previously just a mystery. The importance of this discovery has incredible relevance as it will assist scientists and physicians for those that have ADD and ADHD, as well as other neurological and focusing disorders. Understanding how the pulvinar accepts, filters and transmits external information unlocks another area of the brain function and the communication paths to our bodies. The pulvinar will play an increasingly important role, as we continue to have an increase in the outside stimulus of our society.
