Antibacterial Properties of Echinacea Purpurea Herb

Echinacea Purpurea

  • Echinacea purpurea has been used as a natural herbal remedy for centuries
  • The antibacterial properties of this herb make it a natural antibiotic and antiviral
  • Echinacea purpurea can also be used as a preventative before you get an infection or become ill

The Echinacea Purpurea herb has been used for centuries for a variety of health reasons, and this herb is popular even among many doctors and health care professionals because of the many healing and antimicrobial properties. The beginnings of this herbal remedy is not exactly clear, but it is known that this herb was widely used by the Plains Native Americans, and the name they had for it was snake root, because this plant was used as a cure for poisonous snake bites. Echinacea purpurea is just one of a number of Echinacea species, and it is the most popular for use, because it has the highest potency and the most beneficial effect.

This herb is also sometimes called coneflower, or purple coneflower, and it has a very distinctive look. It helps treat many different medical conditions and problems, and Echinacea purpurea is commonly used because of the antiviral and antibacterial properties the plant offers. It is great if taken at the first sign of a cold or the flu to shorten the duration and lessen the severity of your symptoms, and it is also commonly taken to help fight gingivitis, a bacterial infection of the mouth and gums which can lead to tooth loss. Echinacea is also a good herbal remedy for boils, acne, and other types of infection, both mild and severe.

Echinacea is a terrific immune system booster, helping it fight off a large number of invaders, from both bacteria and viruses. This is due to the polysaccharides the plant contains. When you take this herb, the polysaccharides resemble bacteria to your immune system, so the antibacterial properties kick in. Your immune system releases many more white cells, so that even the most minimal invasion is noticed and taken care of before you can get an infection or become sick. In addition, Echinacea purpurea, and other varieties to a lesser amount, has a number of nutrients used by your body as well. There is copper, iron, vitamin C, iodine, vitamin E, potassium, vitamin A, sulphur, and many other nutrients in the Echinacea, and these can also help your immune system by supplying needed nutrition for optimum efficiency.

Echinacea purpurea has antibacterial properties that can help you fight off almost any infection, no matter where in your body it is. By stimulating your immune system, this herb can keep you from getting sick and shorten the duration of any infections you may get. This herb can be taken alone or together with other herbs that are beneficial to your immune system. There is good reason that Echinacea is labeled by herbalists and doctors alike as the natural antibiotics.

One of the benefits of taking Echinace purpurea for the antibacterial properties is that it is much easier on your entire system than many prescription antibiotics. When your doctor gives you antibiotics they kill off all the bacteria, both the bad kind and the good kind which is needed for your digestive system to be effective and efficient. Using Echinacea and other natural remedies can help you eliminate many of the uncomfortable or harmful side effects that can have, while still taking care of any infection so that you feel better and are in good health again.

The antibacterial properties of Echinacea purpurea make it the natural and safe antibiotic to use if you want to avoid drugs but have to treat an infection. This herb can keep you healthy, prevent infections and other medical problems, and boost your immune system so that it works more efficiently. It works against bacteria and viruses, so no matter what the cause of your infection is, this herb will usually take care of it the natural way. It can also be taken to prevent infections before they start.

This is one of my favorite herbs, and flowers! We grow it in many places in our garden and I'm excited to see it popping up through the slowly-warming late winter soil here in Oregon. Echinacea purpurea most definitely has a healing effect for me when I take it as soon as I feel signs of a cold. I also find it helpful when I start getting allergies, although I haven't researched this enough to know why. It is also a wonderful herb for skin care that needs a little anti-bacterial action. Thanks, Jen.

So, I'm wondering, is Echinacea safe for kids at all? I'd love to be able to safely give it to mind during cold and flu season -- they carry home so many germs!
