Race Car Industry Going Green

The race car industry seems to be going green, and that is a fantastic concept. More race cars than ever are using biofuels such as biodiesel and ethanol, to get all the these alternative fuels offer without doing damage to the environment, through the release of carbon, sulfur, and other pollutants and greenhouse gases. Many racing teams and cars are making the switch, and this will offer many benefits for global warming and other environmental concerns.

The Corvette Racing team went green during the 2008 racing season during the American LeMans series. The team converted their cars to run on E85 ethanol instead of gasoline. The ethanol used is cellulosic ethanol, and this fuel was produced from wood waste, by a the KL Process Design Group. The Toyota Racing Series in New Zealand also turned green this year. In the early months, it was announced that the same biofuel, E85 ethanol, was adopted as the official racing fuel for the series. The Indy Racing League also uses ethanol, one hundred percent of the time. Audi has started using biodiesel fuel in their cars this year as well. The race car industry on a whole seems to have accepted the fact that burning fossil fuels like diesel and gasoline harm the environment, and steps are being taken to stop this damage and protect the environment. This is a big step forward, and a green race car industry is definitely a step in the right direction to stop global warming and use alternative fuels.

Biofuels offer many benefits to the race car industry, and the environment. Ethanol not only burns cleaner, it can also increase the power and torque of the motor, and it requires less engine maintenance when used then gasoline or diesel. Biodiesel also provides these benefits, and with this biofuel there is no need for any conversion. This fuel can be used in any diesel engine with no modifications usually needed. Biofuels are much easier on the earth and air, with few emissions. The release of things like sulfur, carbon, and particulates and other pollution is minimized with biofuels. Both ethanol and biodiesel have been proven, because alternative fuel cars have come in first and won races. By going green, the race car industry is leading the way for consumers, proving that being green does not mean a loss of power or performance. Being green can be both safe for the environment and a good thing for our vehicles as well. Biofuels are an environmentally friendly option in place of fossil fuels that pollute the earth and contribute to global warming.

The race car industry is going green in an effort to be more environmentally responsible, and this is admirable. Now if the rest of us follow in their footsteps, we can end our dependence on oil and protect the environment. The race car industry is an indicator of things to come, and biofuels are going to be the fuel sources for the future. If these fuels are so effective that they can be used to win races, imagine how well they will work in regular cars. Biofuels are much cleaner and better for the environment and the engine of the car, so it only makes sense that the race car industry and the racing teams recognized this and made the switch to these fuels instead of fossil fuels. Biofuels are the future of transportation, and the present of the race car industry. These fuels make it possible to enjoy auto racing without all the harmful effects on the environment that comes from burning fossil fuels.
