World Energy Glut Creates Most Expensive Projects

Our never ending hunger for more and more energy has created some rather bizarre and interesting projects. It seems we just can’t get enough energy and this is growing exponentially. The Three Gorges Dam in China cost $28 billion and created a lack of concrete around the globe. Compare that to the Hoover Dam, which, during it’s time was $49 million, but would equate to $825 million of today’s costs.

Australia’s GLNG at $30 billion is a gas processing system. Canada’s $33 billion Kearl project is the world’s largest oil sands project. Australia’s Queensland Curtis LNG is a $34 billion oil sands project and Australia also has the $35 billion Wheatstone project and $37 billion Pacific LNG. Russia comes in with a $43 billion gas project called Bovanenkovskoye; and these are just a few of the most expensive global projects.
