Types of Menstrual Disorders

The most common types of menstrual disorders include PMS, PMDD and dysmenorrhea. These types of disorders are the causes of irregular menstrual cycles and symptoms that cause pain, cramping and depression.

Types Of Menstrual Disorders

Premenstrual syndrome or PMS affects a large number of women with most of the intense symptoms occurring before menstruation occurs or during the week before menses starts. A natural PMS control is often used to rid the symptoms associated with PMS. Symptoms include bloating, irritability, backache, headaches and breast tenderness. PMS is one of the most common types of menstrual disorders.

Premenstrual dysphoric disorder or PMDD is one of the more severe types of menstrual disorders. Natural PMS control do not always work with PMDD because of the severity of the disorder. Symptoms of PMDD include more severe psychological issues.

Dysmenorrhea is known commonly as menstrual cramps. Dysmenorrhea is one of the main causes of irregular menstrual cycles in young woman. Treatment can take place at home or by a physician with prescribed medication. Types of dysmenorrhea treatment if the pain is severe and ongoing is prescription medication or over the counter pain relief. Anti-inflammatory drugs are often helpful in relieving symptoms of pain and inflammation. Drugs such as naproxen, ibuprofen and acetaminophen are helpful in pain relief. Anti-prostaglandins are also routinely used as types of dysmenorrhea treatment. Anti-prostaglandins have an 80% success rate in most women.
