Microdermabrasion Treatments: New Skin Restoration Process

Microdermabrasion Treatments

  • Microdermabrasion treatments can be looked at as a more intense means to exfoliate skin because it removes some of the upper layers of the epidermis, exposing fresh, healthy skin
  • The process can be seen as an anti wrinkle skin care method or an because it causes the skin to produce more collagen fibers
  • Clogged pores and acne breakouts are also treatable with microdermabrasion because it works as method for

If you look in the mirror and are unhappy with your skin, microdermabrasion might be worth considering. The cost is usually less than many of the other popular cosmetic procedures and it’s non-invasive with little to no recovery time. In fact, the skin restoration process has sometimes been labeled an instant facelift because of how effective and fast microdermabrasion is. Here is some additional information you should know before opting for this procedure.

Understanding Microdermabrasion

Before you understand how microdermabrasion works, you first need to understand the structure of your skin. The two main layers of your skin are called the epidermis and the dermis. Skin epidermis is the layer closest to the outside world, and the one protecting your insides from your environment. The very top layer of your epidermis is called the stratum corneum. When you see light wrinkles or acne on your skin, these are problems in that small layer of your skin.

With microdermabrasion, a unit that emits crystals is moved over your skin. The crystals cause abrasion with your skin almost as if you were polishing silver. The purpose is to remove much of the stratum corneum so fresh, new skin will take its place and that new skin won’t have the same problems. You might think of it as a deeper type of exfoliation.

Benefits of Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion can be useful for many skin conditions. If you’re worried about the signs of aging popping on your face, having the procedure done will cause your skin to produce more collagen which will give new life to your skin. You can use the procedure to treat pores that are too large or that are clogged. It can also be used for acne scar treatment. Even oily or dry skin can be improved thanks to microdermabrasion. For those who have had the procedure, it really has been a skin restoration process because afterward your skin will have a fresh, healthy glow.

Of course, there are other benefits that make microdermabrasion more desirable than other types of cosmetic procedures. For example, most patients report mild or no discomfort and almost no side effects. The procedure can be used on any skin type or color which is not the case with all such procedures. There’s no recovery time and no anesthetic so you can get back to your daily routine as soon as the procedure is finished.

Drawbacks of Microdermabrasion

Like almost any skin restoration process, microdermabrasion does require multiple sessions. Depending on the treated area, you could need up to 12 treatments with each being spread apart by a couple of weeks so the new layer of skin can heal properly. Since the treatments only last 30 to 60 minutes, this is not a huge amount of time when compared to similar procedures.

You do need to make sure the technique is performed by a professional in a sterile environment. Infections can occur from unsterile equipment. You could also be injured by the crystals if they are hitting your skin too hard or if your eyes are not protected from them during the procedure. Carefully selecting someone to perform this skin restoration process is the best way to reduce these rare risks even further.

I am SO glad i purchased the "Made from Earth" detox and renew products. Its is the healthiest microdermabrasion out there....and its all chemical free... I have only used them for the last 2 weeks and WOW! I almost didn't use it last night because i thought my skin was already pretty smooth but i couldn't resist - i was just too excited. First, let me say that i am 29, a student in graduate school. When i first went to college for many months my acne progressively got worse. I tried Proactiv but it was too drying, other drugstore brands (that used to work until my skin worsened), and even went on a prescription for a month for acne (i hated it). Then i began trying products to retain moisture - and i LOVE the Made from Earth Vitamin Enhanced Moisturizer for that. Having success with it encouraged me to try their detox also - which is the "rooibos Tea Face Scrub". I wanted to try it because while much of my blemishes are gone, my skin doesn't look very healthy. I have some scars that blend with my freckles and my skin tone looks terrible. I wanted professional microdermabrasion but i am a college student - not gonna happen on my salary. Plus, I am super healthy and dont want to put any harmful chemicals in my body or on my skin. Luckily i did splurge and spent around $120 on this kit and i am so glad i did.. .it comes with a discount of you buy both products together. . . It has removed some of the dry skin patches near my nostrils and left my skin even softer! Softer than i ever imagined! The combination of the scrub daily and the enhanced moisturizer have greatly reduced my blackheads and my skin feels firmer. This will be in my skin care routine FOREVER! For a graduate college student, this is a bit pricey - but it works! So stop wasting money on cheaper things that don't work and try this. I bought online...some reviews also said its cheaper to buy online

Does this procedure hurt? I've considered having it done, but I'm not real keen on pain. I don't do well with a cold sore or pimples so I'm not sure if I could handle this.
