Energy Drink Makers – under Investigation in New York

New York State is making the three largest manufacturers of ‘energy drinks’ become accountable for the information they are publishing on their products. Eric T. Schneiderman, the attorney general, has requested that these manufacturers not only release information as to the quantity of caffeine as well as other potential health risks, but is investigating whether the manufacturers have violated a federal law by indicating that the energy drinks are listed as dietary supplements. Currently, dietary supplements do not fall under the same restrictive guidelines as food products.

The concerns that the State of New York are making relate to whether the manufacturers are listing all ingredients in the proper quantities as well as possible health risks that are related to the ingredients when consumed in quantity.
