  • One of the most important parts of our bodies is our blood. Blood carries the oxygen and nutrients the cells, muscles, and organs in the rest of our body need to function normally and to keep us healthy. However, if you have a problem with your body’s blood circulation this could cause a wealth of problems. That’s why it’s important to look for some good blood circulation diets that can help prevent these problems from occurring.

    Foods to Eat for Better Blood Circulation

    A number of foods have been suggested to have properties that would be improving circulation. Oranges are one of them. Besides being rich in Vitamin C, oranges contain bioflavonoids which can help improve the strength of your capillaries so blood can flow through them much easier. Another good example from the produce aisle is the watermelon. The melon has a high lycopene content, and lycopene has been shown to stop plague (caused by high levels of LDL cholesterol) from forming in the arteries. That build-up can narrow artery passages and reduce blood circulation. Garlic may have similar effects. Clots in your blood can also reduce your overall circulation and can be life-threatening if they become lodged in one of your arteries. Eating pumpkin seeds or any food high in Vitamin E can lessen the sticky factor of blood so clot formation is reduced.

    If you want to add some protein to your good blood circulation diets, look no further than fatty fish. Any fish which is high in Omega-3 fatty acids can help improve your blood circulation while also boosting your immune system, reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease, and lowering your chances of getting some types of cancers. The best fish to eat are salmon, tuna, herring, and similar fatty fish. To get the most benefits, you should be eating fish at least twice a week. If you’re not a fish fan, these Omega-3 fatty acids can also be found in canola oil, some types of eggs, walnuts, and soy products.


    Cholesterol & Blood Circulation

    Because high levels of cholesterol are known to increase the build-up of plague in the arteries which can reduce your blood circulation capabilities, you should consider eating plenty of foods which will assist in lowering your overall cholesterol levels. Too of the best choices for this goal are plant stanols and soybeans. The former is found in vegetables and fruits but is now being added by food manufacturers to an assortment of other products, including yogurt and granola bars. The latter can be found in a variety of products. All you need is about one ounce of soybeans from soy cheese, soy milk, soy burgers, or other items to start decreasing your levels.

    Herbal Supplements

    None of the good blood circulation diets would be complete without also investigating some of the herbs you can add to your daily diet in order to improve the flow of blood through your body. Cayenne pepper, ginkgo biloba, and rosemary are all believed to have properties which can assist in blood circulation. Drinking sassafras or red clover tea may also help.

      You should see a dentist to make sure you don't have any kind of gum disease or infection. That would be my first thought. Another idea is to rinse with salt water. Most mouthwashes are actually not necessarily great for sensitive gum tissue. My mother is undergoing chemotherapy and one of the things they need to avoid is bleeding. The doctors recommend that she rinse with salt water once or twice a day to avoid gum bleeding from foods and brushing (because you don't want to cut yourself or be bleeding during chemo). Maybe this would help with your situation, too. They said to mix 1 tbsp per quart of water. Just an idea, but I would definitely talk to your dentist!

      I experience some occassional gum bleeding. This is such a disturbing problem that I think can lower my fluid levels in the body. What natural ways could I use to counter the problem and restore the lost blood because the mouth wash fomulae has done little to solve the problem apart from fresh breath

      Go to a herbalist or a person who heals by all natural herbs. My brother was in the hospital for 8 months and recently sent home to die. He only has one kidney and sugar diabetes. I told my family that this was crap! He can't have a kidney transplant because he has been too sick in the hospitol and he has had some blood clots. I went through Pure Herbs Ltd very reasonable prices. He has been out of the hospital for 2 months and doing great we give him all liquid horehound, carrot, sassafras and cayenne pepper capsules for his circulation. They just recently told him his veins were shrinking and that he couldn't have the kidney transplant my herbalist was jumping for joy, she said he doesn't need to be cut into put him on PSP and it will restore his old kidney like new again. What it boils down to is that because of the foods we eat our bodies are not getting proper nutrients. Every organ in our body recreates itself if it gets the proper food.. liver, kidney, skin look our nails and hair come back. There is hope ...............

      Thanks for the reply. I have seen a nurse practitioner and had my hormone levels thyroid and other blood tests taken. everythin came back with in nornal range and so here I am normal?? I guess I should consider going another route, yet I fear the same dead end results.

Even though it sounds like you are doing a good job of taking care of yourself with diet and exercise, there is obviously something going on that will require medical attention as soon as possible. The symptoms you describe sound like more than what can be taken care of with diet, exercise, and even supplements.       I have been experiencing poor circulation symptoms for awhile now and I am concerned. My right hand turns purple often and I am usaallu very cold. I have been experiencing shortness of breath and pains in chest after excercising. I am a heathly 43 year old woman who is a vegetatian.. I do not smoke or eat unhealthy. I take extra suppliments to help with heart/blood circulation. I do not have high blood pressure or cholesterol.. I am stuck and discouraged!
